The 2nd Goldstream Sports Tour de Ski will be held on the Jim Whisenhant Ski Trails at Birch Hill Recreation Area in Fairbanks on Friday, November 16, 2012 through Sunday, November 18, 2012.  This race is a USSA NRL event and is also a FIS-sanctioned event.

The three day mini-tour begins Friday night at 5:00PM with the prologue - 2Km for women and 3Km for men, held in classic technique, with 15-second interval starts.  The start order for Saturday's race (Flint Hills Town Race Series #1, the Fairbanks Youth Sports Season Opener) is determined by the finish order of Friday night's race.  Finish bonuses will be awarded.

The race on Saturday is the first race of the 17th Annual Flint Hills Town Race Series.  Go to that web page for information on the Saturday event.  For high school and adult women, the race will be a 5Km mass start in classic technique; for men a 7.5Km mass start in classic technique.  Sprint bonuses and finish bonuses will be awarded.

The final race in the mini-tour is the pursuit start, free-technique event, beginning at 10:30am Sunday morning.  Competition distances are 10km for women and 10km for all men's classes. Start positions and start intervals will be based upon the rankings of the skiers after the first two stages.  The first skier across the line is the winner.

The Nordic Ski Club of Fairbanks recommends Wedgewood Resort for accommodations.  Wedgewood Resort has always done a great job of accommodating cross country skiers.  They provide dedicated, heated waxing areas for guests, which are invaluable.  One-bedroom units can comfortably accommodate four people and two-bedroom units can comfortably accommodate six people.  A local rooms tax of 8% is charged on all room rates.  Wedgewood Resort is conveniently located less than 10 minutes drive from the Birch Hill Recreation Area.
